Having read Act 3, Scene 1 of 'Romeo and Juliet', you are going to produce a Speaking and Listening presentation based on that scene. This presentation will be formally assessed.
In groups, write and perform a 'talk show' style presentation discussing this question: 'Who is most to blame for Mercutio's death?'
Imagine that 'Romeo and Juliet' is set in the present day and that the scandal of the feuding is much known about. Various members of the Montague and Capulet households, along with people who are neutral, have been invited to take part in a talk show discussion. It is your task to script this talk show using information from the text and your imagination. Amongst other things, you will need to discuss;
how Mercutio was killed
why Mercutio was killed
what the Capulets think about the situation
what the Montagues think about the situation
what neutral people think about the situation
Present at the talk show can be; Old Capulet, Old Montague, Lady Capulet, Lady Montague, Benvolio, Friar Laurence, Nurse
Present at the talk show must be; Talk Show Host
Think carefully about what the guests might say to each other. How will they respond to each other? What viewpoints will they have? What questions will the Host ask? How will the show end?
