Character Studies

For the book you are reading answer the following question:

  • When and where does the story take place?

    For the character you are writing about answer the following questions:

  • How old are they?
  • What do they do?
  • For example school boy, housewife, bus conductor.
  • Which other characters are they related to and what is the relationship between them?

    Look at the list of words on the character word sheet, for each of the characters you are asked to write about choose some key words which are true for that person.

    Now use the writing frame below to write the character study.

    Write the facts about the character as they appear in the book.

    Paragraph two
    Write about the character as they are at the start of the story. What do we first learn about them? Use quotations to show where the idea came from.

    Paragraph three
    How do they develop? Again use quotations to support your ideas.

    Sum up your view of the character
