GCSE SPEAKING AND LISTENING ASSESSMENT
'STEALING' BY CAROL ANN DUFFY

Having read and discussed the poem 'Stealing' by Carol Ann Duffy, you are going to produce a Speaking and Listening presentation which will be formally assessed. Remember that Speaking and Listening is worth 20% of your final Language grade and 10% of your final Literature grade.

TASK

In groups of no more than four, write and perform a presentation which is based on the poem 'Stealing'

Imagine that the person who stole the snowman has been caught. The person is well known to the Police and Social Services for various reasons. It has been decided that there is to be a case conference discussing the thief and his/her situation. In this case conference, amongst other things, you will need to discuss;

Present at the case conference can be; the thief, a Police Officer, a Social Worker, a Lawyer, a Psychiatrist

Think carefully about what each of these people might say at the case conference. How will they respond to each other? What solutions to the 'problem' might they come up with? You will need to use your imagination as well as the information from the poem.

YOUR PRESENTATION MUST LAST FOR A MINIMUM OF THREE MINUTES
